Woody and his buddy Luke drying off in the swing after a dip in the pond

Woody is our Rat Terrier that we adopted from the Warren County Animal Shelter in December, 2006. They thought he was around a year old when we adopted him.
He had been adopted out once and returned promptly because they thought he had too much energy. He fits right in with all our big dogs though (pictured right with his best friend Reba).

Woody has springs for legs and loves to play ball and have all the big dogs chase him. Woody went with us to the Swissathlon in 2008 and got to try his paw at weight pulling. As you can see in the pictures below, he did pretty good for a little guy!
Swissies typically love little dogs (sometimes a little too much), but the huge size difference between little dogs and big dogs can be worrisome. The typical rule of thumb is to keep any size difference between your dogs to under 50 lbs. Woody is about 25 lbs. - but terriers tend to be hardy little dogs and usually can hold their own pretty well. Always closely supervise a big dog with any smaller dog to avoid any accidental injuries.
